WINNIPEG, July 5, 2011 /CNW/ - MTS and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers are giving Manitoba youth something to cheer about this season. MTS is donating 100 tickets to every Bomber home game to United Way of Winnipeg to distribute to its youth serving agencies. Local youth who would not usually have the opportunity to attend a game will now along with their families be able to cheer on the Blue Bombers from the new 'MTS Zone' in section A at Canad Inns Stadium.
"These tickets are one more opportunity for United Way and our agency partners to keep kids active and engaged during the critical hours when they are not in school, a time when they might otherwise be exposed to negative influences," said Scott Sime, Vice President of Marketing and Engagement at United Way. "United Way is extremely grateful to MTS and the Blue Bomber organization for giving kids and their families a chance to spend quality time together at Blue Bomber home games."
"MTS is a huge supporter of United Way and applauds the agency for everything it does for youth here in Manitoba and across Canada," said Kelvin Shepherd, President, MTS. "As the home team telecommunications provider in Manitoba, we are always looking for ways to give back to the community and by partnering with the Blue Bombers, we will be able to provide young people and their families the opportunity to take part in a proud Winnipeg tradition."
Blue Bomber players Buck Pierce and Fred Reid are also contributing to the MTS/Blue Bomber partnership and each guest will receive a limited edition Pierce or Reid name-and-number t-shirt courtesy of MTS and the Winnipeg Football Club.
"I'm very happy to be a part of this great initiative, which wouldn't be possible without the support of MTS and the Blue Bombers," said running back Fred Reid. "I look forward to hearing cheers coming from The MTS Zone all season long."

By combining our knowledge, experience and resources, we are better able to work toward a shared vision of positive and lasting change in our city.
United Way's work, investments, and partnerships are focused on giving Winnipeggers the tools and support that help kids be all they can be; move people from poverty to possibility; and inspire healthy people, strong communities. Together, we create opportunities for a better life for everyone.
